Fools Banquet 2006

Fools Banquet 2006 group shot

Fools Banquet 2006 is light on information, because sadly enough, there just isn't that much available online.

Nonetheless, I've managed to scrounge up a bit of information. But if anyone recognizes any musicians from the photo to the right that I haven't acknowledged yet, I'd love to know! PS - the guy playing guitar on the couch looks a lot like the drummer from MuteMath. Does anyone have intel on this?

The Songs (some of them)

I have a feeling this song was written about George Harrison, lead guitarist of the Beatles, who died in 2001. He lived in Liverpool, played guitar, wrote "Here Comes the Sun", and was the youngest Beatle. Read the lyrics and see for yourself.

Godbye George Lyrics
Bleu/S.McCracken/Z.Hanson

Goodbye George, all things must pass. Here comes the sun to take the youngest one at last. When the dark horse turned the lights out, I remember when the wonderwall came down. Sunset comes for everyone. We're blue for you, Within or without you. We're lost, Goodbye George. Liverpool to Bangledesh, your guitar is gently weeping in our heads. A record spun round and round, and you taught me how to hear another sound. There's something in the way you made me feel, some little mystery revealed to help us heal. Sunset comes for everyone, for everyone. We're blue for you, within and without you We're lost, goodbye. Goodbye George, all things must pass. Here comes the sun to take the youngest one at last. One More Day with You was written at Fools Banquet, and co-writer John Crosby released the track later in 2006 on the Vast album April (online), and in 2007 in the studio version of the same album. You can check out Vast's music video of One More Day on Vast's official YouTube channel. There's a lot of kissing in it.

One More Day With You
J.Crosby/Z.Hanson

Have you heard? Have you tried to understand? It's all right, it gets easier with time. How are you? Are you ever coming back? I have changed and I realized I was wrong. I was wrong. Now I'll never see your face anymore. Oh my love, I'd give anything for one more day with you. Getting through, I wish you felt the way I do. I have changed and I realized I was wrong. I was wrong, now I'll never see your face anymore. Oh my love, I'd give anything for one more day with you. (lyrics from hansonsongs.com)

John Crosby
John Crosby
Vast

John Crosby is the lead singer and frontman for the band Vast. Wikipedia says his mom owned a record store in California, which is pretty sweet. He formed the electronic/rock band Vast in 1993, at age 16. He's also released a few solo albums, all entitled Generica.

Michael Cry
Michael Cry
Vast

Michael has been the bassist for Vast for quite awhile now. I don't know much about him other than the fact that he seemed to have trademarked his own name (See his myspace), and likes doing all kinds of art. I recently got an email that Michael has a new site up.

Chauntelle DuPree
Chauntelle DuPree
Eisley

Chauntelle is the lead guitarist for the band Eisley (her sister, Stacey (below) also attended Fools Banquet 2006). Eisley released the Fools Banquet version of "One More Day With You" on their website for awhile, as the song was sung by Chauntelle.

Here's what else Eisley had to say about Fools Banquet '06: "I really thank Taylor, Zac and Isaac Hanson for giving of their time and resources. It's cool when people do something just because they have a crazy idea and are bold enough to actually do it. Hanson believes in people, they just want to see songwriters and songs flourish and grow. I suppose it would be safe to say, they'd love to see anything independent grow. It doesn't matter what anyone thinks of their artistic expression. They are cool people and love music."

Stacey DuPree

Eisley

Stacy DuPree is the keyboardist of family band Eisley, who released their first album in 2003. She married Darren King, the drummer for MuteMath (love that band!).

He attended big-name music school Berklee College of Music, and is the lead singer and songwriter of LEO as well as producing his own music. Sandra McCracken

Sandra is a singer-songwriter who often writes with her husband, Derek Webb. She has written for the band Cademon's Call. She is a guitarist and vocalist, and performs folksy Christian music in Nashville.

From a fan's post on Derek Webb's site: "So I made a joke about them having connections in Oklahoma (the Hansons) and Derek says that he and Sandra had actually just spent about four days out on the Hanson's ranch writing songs and hanging out with them. He said "Those guys are actually really cool, it's just sad because people will never let them be cool."
